RESEARCH

My research applies a range of climate-sensitive proxies—including macrofossils, stable isotopes, brGDGTs, and fossil pollen—from lake sediment cores collected on high elevation landscapes. I use this evidence to assess the impacts of climate and disturbance on sub-alpine ecosystems.

Primary Research Questions:

1) What factors cause lasting changes on sub-alpine Rocky Mountain landscapes?

2) When have forest transitions occurred in the past and what does this tell us about how disturbance and climate interact to influence forest populations at high elevation?

3) On what timescales do forests respond to climate changes and recover from disturbances?
