I am a master’s student studying paleoclimate and paleoecology with Bryan Shuman at the University of Wyoming. I am passionate about science and am eager to join a Ph.D. program where I can continue to investigate climate, ecology, and earth science.
Education
2020 (Expected) Sc.M., Geology, University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY,
Advisor: Bryan Shuman.
2018 B.S., Geology, University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY
Employment History
2019- Graduate Research Fellowship, Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), University of Wyoming
2018-2019 Graduate Teaching Assistantship, Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Wyoming
2017-2018 Undergraduate Research Fellowship, NASA Space Grant, Wyoming Research Scholars Program, University of Wyoming
2016-2017 Undergraduate Research Assistant, Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Wyoming
Research Skills
I use stable isotopes, macrofossils, and fossil pollen from lake sediment cores collected on sub-alpine landscapes to identify the relationships between climate and ecology through the mid-late Holocene. My skills associated with this research include:
Extraction and identification of fossil pollen from lake sediments
Extraction of n-alkanes and brGDGTs from lake sediments
Compound specific hydrogen isotope analysis of n-alkanes
Sample preparation for radiocarbon dating
Preparation, measurement, and analysis of oxygen isotopes in carbonate sediments
Preparation, measurement, and analysis of carbon isotopes in macrofossils
Identification and quantification of macrofossils in lake sediments
Reconstruction of fire history with charcoal concentrations in lake sediments
Loss on ignition procedures
Lake sediment core collection; Modified Livingston piston coring
